The 2013 Allen & Ginter’s Review Hub

That’s right, you lucky people, as promised a few weeks ago the Review Hub is back, albeit in a somewhat limited capacity.

This Wednesday is the official street date of 2013 A&G and as you all know this is an incredibly popular release in Topps’ Baseball card calendar! I did a brief preview of the product when the details first came out back in January which you can read here, or for a more detailed look you can have a read of this piece from my buddy, and vintage Topps collector, Craig Parker over in Texas!

I anticipate that there will be plenty of reviews popping up all over the place so make sure you bookmark this page and keep coming back over the next few weeks to check up!

So lets get the ball rolling with the reviews, and the first one is hot off the presses from this weekend’s National Sports Collectors Convention over in Chicago, where Chris Olds of Beckett Media teamed up with Topps for an exclusive preview break of two sealed A&G boxes ahead of their Wednesday release. This was the first time that any of us will have seen this product so feast your eyes on this video!

Further reviews will pop up as soon as I find them online!

The 2013 Panini USA Championship Baseball Review Hub

Wow!

That’s a hell of a mouthful of a post title!

Apologies for the delay in setting this one up but this particular product has been out a week now and has been really well received by critics and collectors alike! It doesn’t hurt that the cards look great either, so well done Panini for this one!

At around $70 a box and a guaranteed four hits (a mix of memorabilia and ) this set is well worth your time and looks an incredibly fun break!

The 2013 Topps Archives Baseball Review Hub

Here we go again!! Another in a long line of Topps releases in the first half of the year!

2013 Topps Archives hit the streets yesterday!! I was a huge fan of last years set but wasn’t as sold on this years based upon early views! I love the notion of producing cards of modern players in old designs but it is an idea that can run out of steam pretty quick!

However I may well be swayed as I start to see more appear on eBay and hopefully I get hold of a blaster or two in the not-too-distant future!

The 2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball Review Hub

With Baseball card products dropping like every 10 minutes or something at the moment, we turn our attention to Topps’ latest high-end release, 2013 Museum Collection!

Now I’ve read a lot of people questioning the logic and business sense of releasing two high-end products so closely together (Tribute released last week) but great looking and really expensive cards are our crosses to bear, I guess!

This really is a set for Game-Used relic lovers as it’s crammed full of jersey swatch and patch cards, with a side-order of bat cards and autos thrown in for good measure!!

And the cards look absolutely beautiful this year! I loved the look of last years as well, by=ut Topps have really upped the ante this time around in the design department!!

Anyway, on with the reviews!

BOWMAN BASEBALL HAS LANDED!! I repeat – BOWMAN BASEBALL HAS LANDED!!

Now this is the one (along with a few others I dare say) that I’ve been waiting for!

2013 Bowman Baseball from Topps hit the streets yesterday, Wednesday 8th May, and has already set the Internet afire with the anticipation of all those new Chrome Prospects autos that we can get our grubby little mitts on.

I’ve got another post brewing about the greatness of Bowman Baseball that will see the light of day in the very near future, so I won’t bombard you with any more hyperbole at this stage.

I expect we’ll see a good few reviews over the coming weeks for this always-popular product, so keep checking to see what all the other collectors have to say about the awesomeness that is – Bowman Baseball.

The 2012 Panini Prizm Baseball Review Hub

There seems to have been a glut of Baseball card products released over the last couple of weeks that’s making the constant and consistent updates of my ‘Review Hubs’ a bit of an uphill task.

So far we’ve had Gypsy Queen and Tribute from Topps, along with Triple Play and (as of yesterday) Prizm Baseball from Panini!!

Despite that I still wanted to get a ‘Hub’ in place for Prizm as I get the feeling this will be a popular one with plenty of folks having a lot to say about it!

So send in any links you have to reviews, whether they’re your own or belonging to another site, and I’ll get them posted below.

The 2013 Topps Tribute Baseball Review Hub

Wow! Products are falling thick and fast at the moment and I’m struggling to keep up 🙂

We’ve got a couple more Topps releases over the coming month but firstly we’ll turn our attention to 2013 Topps Tribute, which hit the stores a few days ago!

Tribute is Topps’ first high-end release of the year and one of my favourites! The cards just look so damn pretty!! However due to the high price point I don’t expect that we’ll be seeing too many reviews of this, but I’ll put this particular ‘Review Hub’ in place just to see what rolls in!

The 2013 Panini Triple Play Baseball Review Hub

Time to start up a new Review Hub, but this time we turn our attention away from Topps and onto Panini’s recently released ‘Triple Play Baseball’.

Very much an entry-level product ‘Triple Play’ is aimed primarily at children and those ‘grown up’ collectors who are after something different and a bit quirky! Rather than the usual photography ‘Triple Play’ goes for unique illustrations from several different artists! Hands done there’s not another set on the market like it!!

I have to admit I quite like Triple Play as a basic set, primarily because it IS different! It certainly won’t be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ and it’s difficult to gauge how seriously collectors actually take it as a Baseball card product. But for me it ticks all the relevant boxes and works brilliantly within the demographic that it’s aimed at!

The 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball Review Hub

Earlier in March I set up the first in an ongoing series of ‘Review Hubs’ where I was attempting to bring together as many product reviews in a single place for each new Baseball card release!

It’s designed to make life easier for anyone who wants to check out new product reviews without the hassle of trawling all over the internet – a thankless task at the best of times!

The inaugural Review Hub was dedicated to 2013 Topps Heritage, and now’s time to get the latest up and running with 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen!

Retails is already available in the US and Hobby will be hitting the streets in a few days time!

The 2013 Topps Heritage Baseball Review Hub

2013 Topps Heritage has been live for a week now and I’ve been going into ‘Google-frenzy’ over the last couple of days, trying to find reviews on the product, to gauge what popular opinion is as to whether the set is a ‘hit’ or a ‘miss’.

I don’t know whether you’ve done this yourself but looking for card reviews can be a bit of a thankless task sometimes, as they tend to be scattered to all corners of the web.

It’s incredibly rare for me to get hold of new wax as soon as it’s released (usually because of the high cost in getting a box over to the UK) so expecting a review from my good self as soon as a new set hits the streets is pretty much a waste of time. And then I thought to myself – “Hold on a second, Andy” (my internal monologues often go like this) “Wouldn’t it be ideal if there was a single point, or ‘Hub’, where the links to new product reviews could all be brought together to make life easier for collectors who were endlessly scouring the internet for that very thing?”

You can see where this is going, right??

So, without further ado, I bring you the first ‘Review Hub’ for Baseball card releases, starting with 2013 Topps Heritage.

The idea is – if you see any reviews out there that aren’t included then please let me know by either leaving a comment against this post or via Twitter @TheWaxFantastic, and I’ll include the link here! I’ll set one of these up when each Baseball card product gets released so hopefully it will save on people’s time searching for the damn things in the first place. The same thing applies if you’ve written one yourself and feel it should be included – just send me the details!!

I’ll also try and include one of Chris Justice’s video breaks from YouTube just to give you an idea what the cards look like.
