As Topps’ 2013 Baseball output starts to wind down (I estimate that there’s only Bowman Sterling and 5-Star Baseball to come and they’re both high-end anyway) it’s time to draw a line under their main Baseball set with 2013 Update Baseball!
I guess that if you’ve picked up Series 1 and Series 2 then there won’t be any great surprises to be found in Update. The usual eclectic array of inserts, coloured parallels and one-per-box autographs or relics is pretty much standard now, so nothing new to be found there.
One thing that I hope this set does is carry on with 2013’s strong rookie class. With a bit of luck we’ll be seeing the first Topps RCs of recent call-ups such as Mike Zunino, Tony Cingrani, Kevin Gausman, Michael Wacha, Gerrit Cole and the larger-than-life Yasiel Puig!!
Now THAT alone will make 2013 Update worth buying!! You can click here to go direct to the sell-sheet for more of a breakdown of what’s in store for you.
One thing that stands out is Topps’ decision to discontinue the 1972 minis from Series 1 & 2 and include a new set of 1971 minis instead! An odd choice that but one that will no doubt please the mini collectors!
2013 Topps Update Baseball will be with is at some point in November!
