Here we go, folks!!
Fantasy Baseball is back!!!!!
I’m stoked! It disturbs me how much I enjoy this, sometimes I think more than proper Baseball!!
Anyway, as promised I’ve set up a Fantasy League through Yahoo for the upcoming season. It’s a 12 team, 5×5 Roto League with a live draft set for Saturday 23rd March at 3.30pm GMT/10.30am EST. This might not be convenient for everyone, depending on where you are in the world, but sign up anyway and we can maybe look at adjusting the time nearer to the draft!
As of this moment I’ve only posted this on the blog to give regular blog followers a chance to sign up first. In a few days I’ll be posting the details on Twitter as well so if you’d like to play then click on the link below and it will take you straight through to the Registration page…
For those of you unfamiliar with how a Roto league works here’s a definition from the ESPN Fantasy site –
“Rotisserie, or “Roto,” is the most common way to play fantasy baseball. In this scoring type teams are ranked from first to last in each statistical category. Points are then awarded according to the order in each category, then totalled to determine an overall score and league rank.”
And that’s basically it! A 5×5 league means that the categories used for scoring are as follows –
- Runs Scored (R)
- Home Runs (HR)
- Runs Batted In (RBI)
- Stolen Bases (SB)
- Batting Average (AVG)
- Saves (SV)
- Strikeouts (K)
- Earned Run Average (ERA)
- Walks plus Hits per Innings Pitched (WHIP)
OK so far??
Fantasy Baseball is just plain fun!! I’ve been in a UK-based Yahoo league since 2001 and each year my enthusiasm for the game hasn’t diminished.
Hopefully, if you decide to sign up, you’ll get just as much a kick out of it too!!
As per usual, any questions about how all this works then leave a comment and I’ll get back to you!
